I'm no stranger to sampling itself, as I started doing this heavily way back in the 80s with various samplers, keyboards, etc. And I will thoroughly utilize the round robin feature as well in order to increase realism. Of course I will be doing a lot of varying velocities and different types of sounds from each drum and cymbal as well. Quite a few different mics on the snare as well, and at least two per tom as well, so a relatively large amount of tracks will be recorded per sample. I am big on versatility, so maybe version 6 could capitalize on what I am doing.įor example, I am using three pairs of overheads, one pair being the Townsend Sphere L22, which offers a free plugin to utilize many different mics and various configurations including different polar patterns, etc, after the fact. I am not an expert with Kontakt by any means, but would like to be, and plan on diving in more. The way I am recording may benefit from the latest version, but I don't know. I'm wondering if jumping to the full version of Kontakt 6 is worth it since I'm starting from scratch. Selling them would just be for potential extra monetary gain, but this is really for my own productions.Ĭurrently I only have Kontakt 6 player and Komplete 10 Ultimate, which of course includes the full version of Kontakt 5. CineBrass Sonore is the perfect trumpet and horns section library developed by Cinesamples, that can be operated within the Kontakt Player environment. Initially I am doing this for myself and am contemplating whether I should sell the libraries (drums for now). NI did some pricing reductions some time ago (I think 2 or so years, not sure), so they now allow smaller orders of licenses and lower MSRP of your library, both of which are factors for the licensing cost. Also do be aware if you're going with Kontakt Player, your library is required to implement NKS, which means some scripting, and then tagging all your patches and making audio previews for them, etc. Is your library using Kontakt's snapshot feature extensively? Gotta go with Kontakt Player as snapshots in non-KP libraries is a pretty big hassle for users. Do you want to save costs for creating your library and selling it to others?
